Chef One partnered with the AALDC, presenter of NYC’s largest street festival Atlantic Antic™, for the 14th Annual Chef One Dumpling Eating Contest. Atlantic Antic™ features over 500 vendors on a stretch of Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn over one mile long. As a Brooklyn food maker since 1999, Chef One proudly represented its history and heritage in alliance with this year’s festival theme, ‘The Pulse of Brooklyn’.
Chef One’s annual eating contest and biennial NYC Dumpling Festival (2018) are held in conjunction with National Dumpling Day (September 26 of every calendar year!) to celebrate the many styles and flavors of dumplings from around the world. These community-focused events also serve to raise funds and awareness for hunger through a longstanding partnership with Food Bank for New York City.
This year’s event drew a huge crowd of Brooklyn locals, foodies, dumpling lovers and families. The eating contest was the main attraction and included returning champions alongside a mix of professional and amateur eaters. Molly Schuyler beat her record by eating 119 dumplings in 2 minutes, taking home the 1st place women’s prize of $2000.

“Top-notch dumplings! This company produces savory, delicious, not overly spicy dumplings which make for perfect snacks/appetizers. Some are perhaps a bit too salty for my taste, but that's their only flaw. And as another Yelper pointed out, this is a philanthropic business which really helps out their community. As someone who was born and reared in Brooklyn, I can really appreciate that.”
